Insurance defense has been a cornerstone of Rushton, Stakely, Johnston & Garrett’s legal practice for most of the Firm’s history. RSJ&G has represented virtually all of the major insurance companies and many self-insurance programs in defense of personal injury suits, workers’ compensation claims, and casualty claims of every description. RSJ&G actively litigates in all of the state and federal courts of Alabama and in other states.

In Alabama, bad faith and fraud suits against insurance companies have increased in number each year. The Firm has successfully defended such suits throughout the state.

Members of the Firm believe that representation extends beyond handling specific cases, and they regularly conduct client seminars designed to improve claims handling and to inform clients of developments in Alabama tort law.

The Firm is frequently called upon to render opinions on coverage questions and has litigated numerous coverage disputes. The Firm has become recognized for its expertise in interpreting and resolving coverage questions.

RSJ&G’s lawyers have vigorously defended both insurance companies and their insureds for many years and have developed substantial experience in handling complex jury trials. The Firm has been a part of changes in the insurance industry by developing expertise in alternative dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration.
