3/24/2006 - RSJG Attorney Defends VIOXX(R) Case In New Jersey

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ--During questioning by Robert "Mike" Brock of Rushton, Stakely, Johnston & Garrett, P.A., Alise Reicin, a Merck vice-president testified that she believed that the effects of Vioxx on the heart were "neutral".  She said Merck had no solid data indicating that the medicine caused cardiovascular problems. On cross-examination by Mark Lanier, a Houston-based attorney who had previously won a Vioxx trial, Reicin was repeatedly questioned whether the subjects of the study were advised of the health risks.

The cases involved are Cona v. Merck, L-3553-05 and McCarby v. Merck & Co., L-1296-05, Superior Jersey (Atlantic City).
