9/6/2005 - Bill Moore Dies After Long, Happy and Productive Life
MOORE, William Benjamin, Jr. "Bill", 85, a resident of Montgomery, AL, died Tuesday, September 6, 2005, in Jackson Hospital. Funeral services will be held at The First United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 11th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Karl Stegall and Rev. Paul Duffey officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday evening, September 10th from 5-7 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances; his children, Suzanne Selby and husband Jack of Newnan, GA; Molly Shafferman and husband Howard of Arlington, VA; Lee Cleveland and husband David of Scottsdale, AZ; Michael J. Moore of Montgomery; five grandchildren, Kerie Elizabeth Cleveland, Lanie Cleveland Bowlin and husband Lance, John David Cleveland, Chaney Stephens Shafferman and William H.T. Shafferman. Bill was a partner with the Rushton, Stakely, Johnston and Garrett Law Firm. He was active in real estate development in Montgomery since 1950. This led to his close business and personal association with the Aronov, Lowder and Newell families. Together they developed the Eastdale Mall properties and Deer Creek development. Bill's joy in helping children with learning disabilities was evidenced by his enthusiastic support of the Fast Forward program at AUM. Always loving new adventures, Bill and Mary Frances traveled extensively. He especially enjoyed hosting vacations with only "Papa" and his grandchildren.
